SaKima Ashaunti
My name is Kimberley Dawn Spivey, penname SaKima Ashaunti, I am a 42 year old single mother from Cleveland, Ohio. I began writing professionally late 2015 and my first book was published in February of 2016 and since I have put out a total of five original titles and one re-release.
My inspirations include my own personal life experiences as well as a few taken from people I’ve watched or met throughout the years. I took an interest in writing at the young age of eleven starting with poetry and short stories.
With a growing interest in Black Literature over the years I began to write longer, deeper stories that mirrored the Urban Fiction I grew to love so much.
Many of my stories involve the things that any person of color can encounter in life in the hood; hard times as well as good, drugs, alcoholism, sexual abuse, gang life, jail and love.
My writing style is an unique view into the world as I see it. My ability to look at life from all angles enables me to pen with unbiased views, compassion and empathy while delivering an alternative way of seeing things. I have always had an active imagination and am now finally allowed through writing to breathe life into the characters that for years were begging to have their story told.
I enjoy the relaxing effect writing brings and intend to continue writing as long as I have a story to tell. Hopefully I don’t disappoint in the process.
